Due to the very high altitude, where most sectors exceed 4,000 metres, and with some exceeding 5,000 metres, and the changing altitude, the systems are not only required to operate in very low temperatures, but also to be able to automatically calibrate the oxygen detection and control system due to varying atmospheric pressures. The air supply systems are designed to take into consideration the rarified air at the high altitudes that they operate in.
