Ecotec has been awarded the contract to design, supply, install and commission the air conditioning oxygenic systems for the trains plying the Qinghai-Tibetan Railways, which is the only railway in the world operating at a altitude of more than 5,000 metres.

The air conditioning oxygenic system is a technical feat by itself as there is no similar precedent systems in the world, and they are equipped with high-tech control systems which can automatically calibrate the oxygen detection system to continuously compensate for the continuous changes in pressure due to changing altitudes. The systems are also designed for very harsh operating conditions, which are not found anywhere in the world, including extremely low temperature and huge variation in temperatures when the trains pass through the tunnels.
